What are the Cygnets? The Cygnets are a co-ed, all-levels, Water Polo team based in beautiful San Diego. We practice every Tuesday night, year round in an outdoor pool. We started as a predominantly gay & lesbian team, but we are open to everyone. Can I come play water polo? We are always looking for more players to join us in the pool. Come practice with us whether you're an expert or have never played before. As long as you can swim, you can learn to play water polo. You will need to become a member of U.S. water polo to play with us for insurance reasons ... applications are available online at www.usawaterpolo.com to top What if I'm not gay? That's fine. We're open to everyone to come and play polo with us. What if I don't know how to play water polo? That's fine too. Some of our teammates had never played water polo before playing with the Cygnets. Come to practice and you'll learn; polo is great fun and it's a great workout. What if I'm really good? The Cygnets have players of all skill levels, from absolute beginners to ex-college players. If you're a superstar looking to get back into the sport, you can come out and challenge our more experienced players and offer instruction to the beginners. to top When and where are practices? Practices are from 7:15 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesdays. Practices are located at Helix High School in La Mesa. How are the practices structured? Practices usually consist of about 30 minutes of warm-up and conditioning, then drills and instruction, and finally a scrimmage. We have a regular coach who directs practices from the pool deck. Please arrive on time ... because water polo is a team sport, late arrivals disrupt the flow of the practice. Who do the Cygnets compete against?
